Guess what Laide’s got on it’s mind?

The figures of naked bodies at the entrance to Laide should give you a clue to what this club’s theme is all about. Inside, a stripper’s pole and porn videos provide er, ambience.

Laide

Ambience: The fairly simple lounge design, complete with banquettes and comfy couches, is accented by some rather suggestive imagery. While the name is a nod to the street address, the Laide moniker is very much a double entendre. If the name isn’t proof enough, the molds of naked bodies in the entrance way and the stripper pole on the left side of the room should clear up any confusion about the theme. The music is loud enough to provide atmosphere, but quiet enough to allow for conversation as racy as the decor might inspire. The classic porn videos on display should give you plenty to discuss.

Crowd: Don’t be surprised to find a mix of age groups, but most patrons will be in their 20s with some 30-years-old and over. Only a slim minority are nymphomaniacs, by the way. Most are just out for some tasty cocktails and titillating talk.

Dress Code: You’d think a bar with a sexual theme would encourage nudity, but that’s not the case at Laide — they do expect some degree of dress and it’s generally pretty casual. Should I dance on the bar?: Not when there’s a pole across the room!

Will I get lucky?: If you can’t use a stripper pole in your favour, you’re either hopelessly classy or really need to get Laide.

Best Accessory: A healthy appetite for discussing sex.

Cocktail du jour: House libations such as the Ultimate Kiss and the Merkin are not only tasty, but potent enough to keep you in your seat for the whole night. Factor in the champagne cocktails and the selection of martinis on the menu and you’re definitely not going anywhere.

Hours: Tuesday through Friday, 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.; Saturday 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.; closed Sunday, Monday.
