Beyond your run-of-the-mill exquisite cuisine and fine wine

HICHAM SAFIEDDINE
STAFF REPORTER

With delicious food a given at the centre of any memorable culinary experience, it is the little things you don’t find on a menu that make an already successful restaurant truly special.

Here are some non-menu reasons why these Toronto venues are among the city’s dining hotspots.

....

X-rated visuals at Laide

(138 Adelaide St. E.; 416-850-2726) Wall screenings of vintage 1930s erotic movies turn the concept of food as a primer for sex on its head.

Kama Sutra posters and nude sculptures protruding from the walls may add to the naughty ambiance, but this is far from a lascivious yuppie hangout.

The U-shaped design of the restaurant/lounge makes the silent and intermittent shows less intrusive for those sitting at either end of the room, and the tasty gourmet food is sure to keep your eyes off the action on the walls at least some of the time.
